72 tv stand – At first you might think choosing a TV stand is a simple thing to do, but it is only once you begin looking, that you realise how vast the options are. Different colors, a few made of glass, some wood, a few metallic or a combination, corner racks, TV cabinets, cantilever stands, the list goes on.
Size of the TV Stand
This is essential since the rack must be big enough, but not too big that it dwarfs your TV and looks too big. Stands are often quoted as being appropriate for TVs up to a certain size. This means that you shouldn’t put a TV on it that is larger than that which is advocated, but you can get away with TVs that are slightly smaller.
Hint: Check your TV dimensions and compare that to the rack, in particular the width. It will seem strange if the TV overhangs the edge, and it may not be safe. If you think you may upgrade to a larger TV in the not too distant future, you might want to think about obtaining a stand that’s slightly larger than what you need. Not too big though, otherwise your existing TV will look out of place on a stand that’s way too big for this. Plus a few racks with mounts will only be appropriate for TVs within a certain size range.
Which Colour, Design and Material Do You Want the Stand to Be?
These types of stands often come in a more conventional style box like shape. They generally have drawers, enclosed shelves or doors on front. Many TV cabinets are also generally made of wood as the primary material, and a few may have glass doors.
Suggestion: If you are going to set your equipment like SKY, DVD player etc within the cupboard, you will need to make sure that the remote sensor is visible through the glass door or panel.
Cantilever TV Stands
With these racks that your TV is mounted on a mount, which raises the TV above the stand. This is a great option if you’re looking for a contemporary look and is only feasible for LCD and plasma TVs.
Corner TV Stands
As the name implies, these racks are for when you set the TV in the corner of the space. The stand appears the same as a normal stand from the front, but it narrows slightly towards the back, so it fits more snuggly into a corner.
Hint: Corner racks are great if you’re tight on space, since you’ll have the ability to push the rack further in the corner and save a couple of much needed centimetres.
Wooden TV Stands
Most wooden TV stands are normally made out of wooden veneers not solid hardwood, helping to keep the cost down. You should ideally look for the same type of wood as your existing furniture, so it matches up and doesn’t look out of place.
Depending on the model and make, TV stands can come in ash, beech, cherry, mahogany, oak, pine or walnut.
Tips: If you enjoy a specific type of rack but do not enjoy the kind of wood, it is worth asking if other types of wood are available (contact us here). If you’d like a better quality rack, look for models that are created with ‘real’ wood veneers, since they are usually difficult to tell from real solid wood.
Again as the name implies these racks are primarily made of glass, usually comprising 2-3 toughened glass shelves with metal supports.
Hint: Lots of glass racks come with either clear or black glass shelves. So if you only see a black glass version but want transparent glass, it is always worth asking since both versions are often available.
Even though the hottest stand color nowadays is black, you will also find them in silver, white and even red. Some more contemporary designs will also be available in a high gloss finish. So keep an eye out for colors that will fit in and enhance your room layout.
