biglots furniture – At first you may think choosing a TV stand is a easy matter to do, but it’s just when you begin searching, which you realise how enormous the options are. Various colors, some made of glass, some wood, some metal or a mix, corner racks, TV cabinets, cantilever stands, the list goes on.
So Where Do You Begin?
Size of the TV Stand
This is very important because the rack must be large enough, but not too large that it dwarfs your TV and looks too large. Stands are usually quoted as being suitable for TVs up to a certain size. This means you shouldn’t put a TV on it that is bigger than what is recommended, however you can get away with TVs which are slightly smaller.
Hint: Assess your TV dimensions and compare that to the rack, in particular the width. It will look strange if the TV overhangs the border, and it may not be safe. If you believe you may upgrade to a larger TV in the not too distant future, you may want to consider obtaining a stand that’s slightly larger than what you need. Not too large though, otherwise your current TV will look out of place on a stand that’s way too large for this. Plus some racks with mounts will only be suitable for TVs in a certain size range.
Which Colour, Design and Material Do You Want the Stand to Be?
These types of stands often arrive in a more traditional style box like shape. They generally have drawers, enclosed shelves or doors on the front. Many TV cabinets are also generally made of wood as the main material, and some may have glass doors.
Suggestion: If you are going to put your gear like SKY, DVD player etc within the cupboard, you’ll need to be certain that the remote sensor is visible through the glass door or panel.
Cantilever TV Stands
With these racks your TV is mounted on a bracket, which increases the TV over the stand. This is a great option if you’re searching for a contemporary look and is just feasible for LCD and plasma TVs.
Corner TV Stands
As the name suggests, these racks are for if you put the TV in the corner of the room. The stand looks just like a normal stand out of the front, but it narrows slightly towards the trunk, so that it fits more snuggly into a corner.
Hint: Corner racks are great if you are tight on space, because you’ll be able to push the rack further into the corner and spare a couple of much needed centimetres.
Wooden TV Stands
Most wooden TV stands are normally made out of wooden veneers not solid wood, helping to keep down the cost. You should ideally look for the exact same type of wood as your current furniture, so that it matches up and does not look out of place.
Depending on the make and model, TV stands may arrive in ash, beech, cherry, mahogany, walnut, walnut or walnut.
Tips: Should you enjoy a specific style of rack but do not enjoy the type of wood, it’s worth asking if other types of wood are available (contact us here). If you’d like a better quality rack, look for models which are made with ‘actual’ wood veneers, since they are usually hard to tell from actual solid wood.
Again as the name suggests these racks are mainly made of glass, usually consisting of 2-3 toughened glass shelves with metal supports.
Hint: Many glass racks come with either clear or black glass shelves. So if you just see a black glass version but need transparent glass, it’s always worth asking because both versions are often available.
Even though the hottest stand colour these days is black, you’ll also locate them in silver, white and red. Some more contemporary designs are also available in a high gloss finish. So keep an eye out for colors that’ll fit in and enhance your room design.
