tv stand cabinet

tv stand cabinet – At first you may think choosing a TV stand is a simple thing to do, but it is just when you start searching, which you realise how vast the options are. Different colours, a few made from glass, some wood, a few metallic or a mix, corner stands, TV cabinets, cantilever stands, this list goes on.

Size of this TV Stand

This is essential because the stand has to be large enough, but not so large that it dwarfs your TV and seems too large. Stands are usually quoted as being suitable for TVs up to a particular size. As a consequence, that you should not put a TV on it that’s larger than what is advocated, but you can eliminate TVs which are slightly smaller.

Tip: Check your TV measurements and compare that to the stand, in particular the width. It will look strange if the TV overhangs the edge, and it may not be safe. If you believe you may upgrade to a bigger TV in the not too distant future, you may want to consider obtaining a stand that is slightly bigger than what you want. Not too large though, otherwise your existing TV will look out of place on a stand that is way too large for it. Plus a few stands with mounts will only be suitable for TVs within a certain size range.

Which Colour, Design and Material Would You Want the Stand to Be?

These kinds of stands often come in a more traditional style box like shape. They usually have drawers, enclosed shelves or doors on front. Many TV cabinets are also usually made from timber as the primary material, and a few may have glass doors.

Suggestion: If you’re going to put your gear like SKY, DVD player etc within the cabinet, you’ll want to make sure that the remote sensor is visible through the glass door or board.

With these stands your TV is mounted on a mount, which increases the TV above the stand. This is a great option if you’re searching for a contemporary appearance and is just feasible for LCD and plasma TVs.

As its name implies, these stands are for when you put the TV in the corner of this room. The stand looks the same as a normal stand out of the front, but it narrows slightly towards the back, so that it matches snuggly into a corner.

Tip: Corner stands are great if you’re tight on space, because you’ll have the ability to push the stand further in the corner and save a few much needed centimetres.

Most wooden TV stands are usually made out of wooden veneers not good wood, helping to keep the cost down. You should ideally look for exactly the same type of timber as your existing furniture, so that it fits up and doesn’t look out of place.

Based on the make and model, TV stands may come in ash, beech, cherry, mahogany, oak, pine or walnut.

Tips: Should you like a specific style of stand but don’t like the type of wood, it is worth asking if other kinds of timber are available (contact us here). If you want a better quality stand, look for models which are made with ‘real’ wood veneers, as they are usually difficult to tell from real good wood.

Glass TV Stands

Again as its name implies these stands are mainly made from glass, usually consisting of 2-3 toughened glass shelves with metal supports.

Tip: Lots of glass stands come with either clear or black glass shelves. So if you just find a black glass variation but want transparent glass, it is always worth asking because both versions are often available.

Coloured TV Stands

Even though the hottest stand colour nowadays is black, you’ll also locate them in silver, white and red. Some more modern designs will also be available in a high gloss finish. So look out for colours that will fit in and enhance your room design.
